The "AntWorld" Server What's New

  1. The applet interface is now available! I think it works more smoothly than the JavaScript interfaces. So far, all three interfaces AntWorld has (`Wide' and `Tall' JS, and `LiveConnect Applet') are for Netscape, but we are working on instructions for using the applet version with MSIE as well. [June 15, 2000]

  2. You can view the list of all your quests, and remove empty quests, in the "All My Quests" menu now available in the AntWorld console. [May 5, 2000]

  3. Now the AntScape client can be used on sites with firewalls as well. However, the new client code has not been packaged into the installation executable (antworld.exe) yet, so if you need this feature, you need to upgrade the client by downloading the new local.jar. [May 3, 2000]

  4. A new interface, with a tall console, is available. You can choose it from the AntWorld "Describe Your Quest" screen. So far this interface can only be used on machines with Antscape installed, since it has not been digitally signed yet. (The traditional interface, of course, can be used on any machine with Netscape). [Feb 28, 2000]

  5. You can add annotations to pages you judge. [Jan, 2000]

  6. Page titles are shown instead of URLs, where available. [Jan 2000]

  7. You don't have to use the AntWorld client (Antscape) for AntWorld basic functionality: we are using signed JavaScript now. You only need a Netscape browser. The AntWorld client is still require to use the full functionality of AntWorld. (Really, the only feature lost without the AW client is the guiding ant icons inserted to mark suggested links).
